Some of the most meaningful moments in my week don’t happen in a boardroom or behind a desk — they happen behind a register.
Every Friday afternoon, I volunteer at Wellspring’s Treasures, the thrift store that supports Wellspring Living, an organization dedicated to helping survivors of human trafficking reclaim their lives with dignity, safety, and hope. All proceeds from the store directly support their mission, and knowing that every purchase contributes to someone’s healing makes even the smallest transaction feel significant.

For the past three months, I’ve had the privilege of serving as a cashier. I meet the kindest people — fellow volunteers, loyal shoppers, donors, and staff who all carry the same quiet commitment to making a difference. There is something incredibly grounding about standing in that space each week, surrounded by generosity, compassion, and purpose.
And yes — as someone who loves clothing and personal style, I can’t deny the joy of discovering hidden treasures. Beautiful pieces with stories. Timeless finds waiting for a second life. But what makes those treasures truly special is knowing they help create new beginnings for others.
For years, I wanted to volunteer. I carried the intention in my heart while working full days in corporate life — but like so many people, I struggled to find the time and energy after long workdays. Now, I see this season of my life as a gift. I finally have the space to give back in a way that feels rich, meaningful, and aligned with who I am becoming.
Wellspring’s mission is powerful. They don’t just rescue survivors — they restore them. Through housing, education, career development, and emotional support, they help individuals rebuild their lives with confidence and independence. Supporting that mission, even in a small role, reminds me that impact doesn’t always require a spotlight. Sometimes it simply requires showing up consistently.
Their holistic approach addresses both immediate needs and long-term healing, creating pathways to independence and dignity. By investing in education, workforce readiness, and emotional support, Wellspring empowers survivors to rebuild their lives with confidence and hope. Knowing that the work happening inside the store directly fuels these outcomes gives every shift deeper meaning.
What moves me most is knowing that every small moment in that space supports something far greater. Each purchase, each donation, and each volunteer shift helps provide safety, stability, and opportunity for survivors who are rebuilding their lives after unimaginable experiences. Wellspring’s Treasures is more than a store — it is a bridge between compassion and restoration. It quietly reminds me that healing doesn’t happen all at once, but through consistent care, dignity, and the belief that every life deserves a second beginning.
